you know it is fall when:
*when the leaves change colors....love that!
*there are enough leaves in the yard to fill about 20 big bags full
*it goes from summer weather to winter weather in one day
*i can go for a bike ride one day and be warm...the next day, freeze
*it snows too soon
*it gets dark too early and you think it is time for bed at 6:00 pm
*my birthday comes around
*mark and i get to speak at the singles ward (did it today)
*boys basketball tryouts come and there is anxiety in the air as to whether add made the team or not
*you give a sigh of relief and shout for joy when add does make the team
*fundraisers are coming at you from every direction from high schoolers (mostly from add)
*i get a hankering for soups and baked goods
*thanksgiving is here and delicious food is put on the table
*i have to finally put away my summer clothes....how sad!
i am grateful for the many things that i have been blessed with.....my health, good friends and neighbors, my family, and my testimony. Happy Fall!

SURPRISE!
i should clue into mark, because he has done this to me about 3 times. Here are the clues...see if you can guess what is going to happen....
Mark comes home early from work...about 5:30 pm
Mark: i am getting in the shower
Jill: why?
Mark: 'cause i didn't shower this morning
Jill: (thinking to herself)...that is strange we aren't going anywhere and you don't usually do that. i thought we could have leftovers for dinner tonight.
Mark: maybe we could run down to quiznos for a sandwich
Jill: okay, addison will be happy with that
Mark: are you going to take a shower soon?
Jill: no....i go downstairs to talk with addison and aubrey who are doing a puzzle
Mark: screaming for me......
Jill: what?
....here it comes...the point where i never clue in so he has to tell me moment....
Mark: since you're not going to shower, then i need to tell you that we are going to dinner with steve and becky and scott and amy harmer
Jill: when?
Mark: at 6:30 pm at kyoto's
Jill: ugh! guess i better shower i only have half an hour

Where did October go?
okay, i have been a slacker. it has been a whole month and a half and i haven't even written. UGH!
**snow....not ready for it!
**i hate freezing cold weather in october instead of january (hate it then, too).
**wow, addison looks good in a tuxedo...and sings quite well, too (choir concert)
**i LOVE when ashley calls me with a funny story or two!
**it's fun going to corn mazes with the young women.
**learning how to use the new family search site and loving it. (hate to admit that because i haven't always loved it. i guess i will see how it goes when i actually have to do some research)
**love swimming with the masters group down at the life center.
**family pictures at the quarry in little cottonwood canyon....ahh, cute
**enjoy looking at the cake pops on www.bakerella.com, but can't come close to making them as cute:(
**mark and i enjoy going to jordan football games, especially when they beat brighton twice
**love joking with addison
**wish i could change me
**love when the kids ask if they can go to the temple...how can you say no?!
**love watching the kids succeed in school....addison made National Honor Society and finished the quarter with a 3.95 gpa
**love the spirit of the book of mormon...even when you are just reading it to finish by dec. 25th
**love king benjamin and alma
**motorcycling, cooking chili, and listening to everyone have fun makes for a great halloween!
**cute costumes and trick or treaters finish off this month

Diet of a Golden Retriever

To all of you that own a golden retriever.....i have the perfect diet for him/her.
first of all, let me back up a little bit. i have been making these quilt blocks with witches on them. they are the cutest! i had to make separate legs and boots to sew them into the blocks. it took me a while to make the legs because i had to sew them and then turn them right side out...18 of them. i did that and got half of the legs sewn into the quilt blocks. sooooo, the others were sitting down by the sewing machine. i went down today to iron addison's shirt for homecoming and noticed that there were only 2 legs/boots sitting there with the others nowhere to be found. one of the boots was half gone. i looked everywhere for them.....to no avail!!!
here's where the diet of a golden retriever comes in.....Moab, our "well behaved" dog (haha), ATE THEM!!! No lie! He actually ate the material/felt legs and boots.
i looked outside just in case he had carried them out there....nope! i looked inside....nope. i think i am going crazy....nope. mark suggested that maybe he had a hiding place....yep, in his poop! gross! now, i don't have to buy dog food any more....not because i killed my dog after he ate all of them....but because he prefers material over his food. it is probably cheaper to buy material than his food and he doesn't seem to be picky about what kind of material. Ugh! what a dumb dog!
moral of the story: see if your dog likes material before you buy dog food OR put your quilting/material out of your dog's reach!

PTSA President? HAHAHAHA!
Okay, i will let the secret out of the box or fess up to it...i am PTSA President at Jordan High School. i got roped into to it and so i told them i would give them one year and that was it! So in the last month i have already spent more time at Jordan High than i ever wanted to, but one good thing has come out of it so far...i am the coolest mom on campus :)...just kidding!
last week, august 28th, we had a tailgate party at the football game in layton. i had spent three days selling tickets during lunch and on the second day i was ready to cancel the whole thing for the lack of interest. by the end of the third day, i had over-sold the amount of seats on the school bus...yeah!!! i sold 70 tickets. the bus holds 65 five...squishing!! Things that made this event successful:
*a great principal who supplied and paid for the bus for us
*awesome sbo's who hyped up the activity....then gave up 5 seats(drove themselves) so that 5 others could get on the bus.
*awesome board members and volunteers who helped in various ways
*great kids that were great on the bus
*great bus driver who was very patient!! thank you, jack!
*face painting while waiting for the food to arrive...we beat the food up there...thank goodness i took paint to face paint with!
*prizes on the bus
*candy on the bus
*candy at the game for the loudest cheering
*more candy!
*lots of kids cheering their team on...we won by the way...52 to 26
*football players grateful for the cheering section
*football coaches grateful for the support and cheering section
*a very patient bus driver on the way home! thanks again, jack!
*fun was had by all!!!!!
I was on cloud 9 for the rest of the weekend! i couldn't believe that we pulled it off so successfully because i wasn't sure that it was even going to happen in the first place. it was so successful that every time i have been at the school since then, i have had numerous students ask if we are going to do it again. the sbo's are begging to do it again. i hadn't planned on it at first, but i am giving it a lot of thought. i may even do a fun bus during basketball season. What a fun event! This is one thing that has made being PTSA pres. worth it...being with some very awesome kids down at jordan...go beetdiggers!

Family....what is it good for?
Today, Addison came home from a trip and said, "I am so grateful that Ashley and I get along. Our family gets along great and we are nice to each other."
WOW! If that isn't a true validation for a mother, I don't know what is! So, I ask, "Family...what is it good for?"
